Why should we devote a whole section to Henri Grialou (1894–1967), who would become Fr Marie-Eugene of the Child Jesus ?
Well, because this man was both priest, preacher, Carmelite, spiritual director and writer, as well as holding positions of responsibility in the Carmelite Order and founding the institute of Notre Dame de Vie.
Through his inner journey and his commitment to the Church, Fr Marie-Eugene is a well informed guide on the road of human life. He carries out his mission to lead people to God.
His secret is as follows :
“All my life has been based on the discovery of the Holy Spirit. I call him my friend, and I believe I have reasons for doing that.”
“Yes, I have understood mercy : St Thérèse of the Child Jesus sensed its gentleness, I sense its power.”
On the threshold of the third millennium, his is a brilliant witness.
The cause for beatification of Fr Marie-Eugene of the Child Jesus was opened in the diocese of Avignon in 1984.
The documents of the diocesan enquiry were transmitted to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in 1994.
Fr Marie-Eugene was proclaimed Venerable on 19 December 2011.
He has been beatified on November 19, 2016.
